The Starfleet Recruitment Film Par Excellence…

I’m not going to get into much detail, in deference to those who may not have seen Star Trek yet (what is WRONG with you?), but I will say that I officially have a new favorite movie – a statement I do not make lightly.

Plot, characterization (Karl Urban as Bones McCoy is an unheralded talent!) and special effects – it’s all there, and it all works beautifully. I left the theatre more excited than when I went in, which is something that hasn’t happened to me for a looong time. I’ll provide a more fulsome discussion of the film soon, but for now, I just want to tell you: SEE IT!

I’ll agree with you on all counts – especially Karl Urban, indeed all of the actors managed what I thought would have been the impossible task of capturing the characters but not copying the original actors. I also like that the directors and writers managed to put in a lot of moments that paid tribute to the past incarnation – my particular favourite being Admiral Pike in a wheelchair….

  2. Thank you for not giving away anything – I am one of the ill that have not seen it yet.

    Yet.

You’ll love it Kev – the scene where the Death Star appears and Darth Vader and Kirk fight it out is awesome….
